Gabe Eliserio

Gabe Eliserio joined the Southeastern coaching staff in the spring of 2020 and works with the team's defensive secondary as he enters into his 14th season in the college ranks. He is also the Co-Special Team Coordinator (Kickoff & Punt Return) as well as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator.
 
He comes from Sterling College where he served as the Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head coach for the Warriors.

In 2019 the Sterling College defense gave up 19 points/game while ranking 2nd in the nation for Sacks and 7th in the nation for Total Defense. Defensively the Warriors were not scored on for a streak of 13 quarters in a row, shutting out 3 opponents consecutively. The Warriors ranked 1st in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference for Total Defense, Pass Defense, Opponent First Downs, Pass Defense Efficiency, Sacks/game & 2nd in Conference for Scoring Defense.

Over four seasons, Sterling won the 2017 Conference Championship while posting a 28-15 record which included NAIA Postseason Playoff berths in 2016 & 2017.
 
Eliserio began his coaching career at Dordt University (formerly Dordt College) in Sioux Center, Iowa. He spent the 2008 season as the Defensive Secondary Coach where the Defenders ranked 5th in the country for Pass Defense.
 
In 2010, he returned to coach at his alma mater, Sterling College, as the Defensive Secondary Coach and the Special Teams Coordinator for the Warriors. As the Secondary Coach, under Coach Chuck Lambert, the 2010 & 2011 Warrior defensive units ranked 1st in the KCAC for scoring defense.
 
After spending two seasons with Sterling, Eliserio returned to Dordt University to serve as the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator for the Defenders. He was promoted the Associate Head Coach in 2015 and served as an Instructor of Human Health & Performance.
 
During his coaching career, Eliserio has coached 46 All-Conference Selections and 4 All-Americans as well as 1 Cliff Harris Award Finalist in 2019. 
 
He played quarterback at Eastern Arizona College, helping lead the team to its first winning season in 30 years. He then played defensive back at Sterling College, where he was the Warrior Award Recipient, an All-KCAC selection and a participant in the 2008 Senior Bowl.
 
Eliserio earned his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Sterling College and holds a Master's degree in Education and Sports Administration from East Central University.
 
A native of Phoenix, AZ, Eliserio prepped at Moon Valley High School where he was an All-Conference QB, team captain and passing record holder for the Rockets.

He and his wife Dawn have two daughters, Grace and Bre. Dawn serves as Southeastern’s Softball Pitching Coach & an Assistant Professor for Sterling College.
