Jenn King was named the third head volleyball coach in Southeastern Oklahoma State history the spring of 2010.
In 2011, King led the Savage Storm to its highest conference finish in school history, placing third after posting a 10-6 record in the first season of Great American Conference play. SE finished the year 14-19 overall and saw star Lunden Azuara earn the first ever GAC Player of the Year honor and garner first team All-American recognition after finishing fourth in the nation in kills. Azuara and Tiara Iwegbu each earned all-conference honors, marking the second-straight season that SE has placed two players with all-conference honors under King.
Her squad posted a 10-15 record in 2010, finishing in a tie for eighth, but narrowly missing the conference tournament due to tiebreakers. Southeastern had a pair of all-conference selection in their final season as member of the Lone Star Conference, with Azuara and Brittany McDonald each earning second team honors.
A native of Newtown, Conn., King comes to Southeastern after two seasons at Saint Leo (Fla.) where the Lions amassed a 59-15 record while she handled the outside hitters and defense as an assistant.
Prior to Saint Leo she served as the recruiting coordinator and middle hitters coach at West Virginia for two seasons.
Before her time at WVU, she was the assistant coach at Marist College. There she worked specifically with middle blockers and the Red Foxes’ offense, while also serving as a recruiting coordinator.
King’s first coaching stint came at her alma-mater, Siena College. She was an assistant during the 2003 and 2004 seasons after having a standout four-year career there.
As a player for the Saints, she manned the middle of the rotation for her final three years and served as captain her senior season. As an all-MAAC first team selection in 2001, King graduated fifth on the school’s all-time block list with 254 and ended her career with 807 kills and a career hitting percentage of .214.
In her coaching career she has held numerous responsibilities including game management and scouting, as well as serving as camp director, conference championship site liaison and NCAA Yes Clinic coordinator.
King earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from Siena in 2003.
She lives in Durant with her husband Dan who serves as the volleyball program's assistant. The two were married on May 19, 2012.
