Todd Throckmorton joined the Southeastern football coaching staff in January of 2019 as the team’s offensive line coach.
His offensive line was a big part of Southeastern posting one of the best program turnarounds in the history of Division II football as the 2021 team posted a 9-3 record, a 7.5 game turnaround from the 2019 season, the last to be played before Covid.
Throckmorton's offensive line featured a pair of first team All-GAC honorees in Caleb Weatherford and James Walker, while Dejante Granger and Devin Mitchell each added honorable mention honors.
The Storm offense amassed 5,067 yards of total offense, averaging 422.3 yards per game behind its front wall of blockers, rushing for 1,845 and passing for 3,222.
He helped the Southeastern program face the challenge of navigating the Covid-19 Pandemic and saw the 2020 season canceled, marking the first stoppage in school history since a three-season break from 1943-45 during World War II.
The 2019 Southeastern squad posted a 1-10 record overall on the season, with four of those losses decided by four-or-fewer points.
Throckmortons' offense saw Braxton Kincade take home honorable mention All-Great American Conference honors, while SE finished the year averaging 375.9 yards per game on offense.
That team also had 11 players pick up Academic All-GAC recognition, seven of them ont he offensive side of the ball.
He comes to the Savage Storm program after two seasons as the offensive line coach and assistant head coach at Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he also coordinated the team’s recruiting efforts.
Prior to his time at UW-SP, Throckmorton spent four seasons as the offensive coordinator at Missouri Western state, taking the position in 2013 after SE head coach Tyler Fenwick left as OC to become head coach at Missouri S&T.
His time as the offensive coordinator capped his third stint coaching at MWSU, with his latest stop starting in 2009 when he became tight ends coach before taking over the offensive line from 2019-2012 and ultimately on to OC duties in 2013.
His return to MWSU followed a three-year span at New Mexico as the tight ends coach. In 2004-05, he returned to Missouri Western to coach the offensive line following four years as the head coach at Fort Lewis College.
At Fort Lewis, seven of his 11 wins came in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) games. During his tenure at FLC, he coached 30 All-RMAC players, 14 academic All-RMAC picks and two RMAC Freshman of the Year honorees. In 2002, the Skyhawks led the nation in passing offense with an average of 373.5 passing yards per game.
In the 1990’s, Throckmorton spent time at San Jose State (1997-99) following a long run at Missouri Western where he spent time coaching both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Throckmorton graduated from Missouri Western State University in 1987 with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. In 1989, he earned a Master of Arts in Physical Education from the University of South Dakota.
