DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will close out its three-match Great American Conference road swing when it heads to Weatherford, Okla., to face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16.
The Savage Storm come into the contest looking to snap an 11-match losing skid and are currently 2-20 on the season overall and 1-7 in league play.
The Bulldogs enter the matchup with a 7-16 record overall and are 5-2 in GAC play after a pair of road wins over Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist.
The Storm will continue to lean upon the duo of
Emily Gentle and
Megan Kunkel to pace an improving offensive attack.
Kunkel leads the way with 2.88 kills per set with Gentle hot on her heels at 2.86.
SE has seen its number tick upwards since moving to a dual setter system that combines the abilities of
Madelynne Cera and
Marina Dias. Cera leads the way with 5.27 digs per set, while Dias averages just 1.82 on the year, but is posting an average of 4.33 since stepping into her current role two weeks ago.
Southeastern features five players who average better than two digs per set on the back row which is led by
Taylor Benner who is posting 3.63 dps.
Jasmine Everage has made a charge in recent weeks in her defense at the net and now leads the team with 50 blocks on the year while
Natasha Smith is right behind at 48.
The Bulldogs are paced by Allison Cole and Adriana Rodriguez who are averaging 2.08 and 2.04 kills per set, respectively.
Lindsay Dusin triggers the offense with 4.92 assists per set.
Kaila Lancaster paces the defensive back row with 3.60 digs per set, while Cole leads the defense at the net with 67 blocks.
