Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southeastern saw its road woes continue in Weatherford, Okla., with the Savage Storm falling to Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 in a Great American Conference matchup on Tuesday evening.
The loss drops SE to 2-21 on the year and 1-8 in the conference and extends its losing skid to 12.
Southeastern will be back on the court in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium when it hosts Ouachita Baptist at 2 p.m. on Oct. 19.
The Storm started well the teams battled back-and-forth in the opening set, using a four-point run to mount a 23-21 lead, before SWOSU returned the favor to take the first set 25-23.
Set two was another point-trading affair that saw the Bulldogs reel off a 7-3 run to put SE in a 2-0 hole after a 25-19 loss.
The Storm fell behind late in the third set before running off five-straight points, only to fall 25-23 in the match clinching set.
Megan Kunkel paced the offense to the tune of 11 kills, while the trio of
Madelynne Cera,
Emily Gentle and
Ariel Sanders each added five kills.
Cera led the SE setters with 12 assists, while
Marina Dias added six assists. Cera added a team-high five digs in addition while Dias chipped in two.
Cera's five digs led the Storm on a night when the team managed just 15 over three sets.
Kunkel, Gentle and
Jasmine Everage each added a pair of blocks as SE posted five as a team on the night.
