Volleyball Hosts UAFS on Tuesday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will take a brief break from Great American Conference play and host eastern-border interstate rival Arkansas-Fort Smith at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
 
The Savage Storm will be looking to get back in the win column in advance of its Oct. 25 rematch with arch-rival East Central at 7 p.m.  That matchup will be a Dig Pink contest as the SE volleyball team works to raise awareness for breast cancer.
 
The Storm are coming off a stinging 3-2 loss to Ouachita Baptist, during which the SE duo of Megan Kunkel and Emily Gentle each posted 17 kills.
 
Those numbers boosted Kunkel to a 2.94 kps mark overall on the season, with Gentle right on her heels with 2.90 kps.
 
Marina Dias turned in one of her best outings with 23 assists to go with 14 digs, while Madelynne Cera added 16 assists in that match with six kills.
 
Taylor Benner led the back row with 20 digs against OBU and is topping the team with 3.59 digs per set.
 
Jasmine Everage and Natasha Smith pace the SE defense at the net with 55 and 52 total blocks, respectively.
 
UAFS comes to town led offensively by Heidi Luks who is posting 4.14 kills per set on the year in an offense that features three setters with three assists per set or more, led by Whitney Hale with 6.12.
 
Emily McCollum paces the Lions back row defense to the tune of 5.36 digs per set, while Luks paces the defense at the net with 98 blocks on the year.
