DURANT, Okla. – Despite strong starts in each set, Southeastern saw Arkansas-Fort Smith use mid-set runs to pull away with a 3-0 win on Tuesday evening in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
SE dropped the first set 25-15, set two 25-19 and set three 25-15, falling to 2-23 overall on the season.
The Savage Storm will be back on the court for the third of its three-match home stand to host rival East Central on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. As part of the volleyball team's Dig Pink efforts to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match.
For the second time this season,
Madelynne Cera fell one kill shy of a triple-double, finishing the match with nine kills, 10 assists and 10 digs. Her nine kills led the Storm offense, while her 10 assists matched the team best.
Emily Gentle added eight kills and
Natasha Smith turned in four.
Cera and
Marina Dias each turned in 10 assists in the match and each tallied double-doubles. Dias turned in 11 digs in the effort which matched the team-high, while Cera's 10 digs gave her a double-double.
Taylor Benner matched Dias with 11 digs to lead the Storm on the back row, while
Jasmine Everage added a pair of blocks to lead the way at the net.
