SE Travels to Washburn Regional Crossover

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will hit the road for one of its toughest weekends of the year as it travels to Topeka, Kan., for the Washburn Regional Crossover on Oct. 5-6.
 
The Savage Storm will open the event at 9:30 am on Friday against Emporia State and follow with a 6:30 PM match against the host Washburn.  Saturday will open with a 9 am matchup against Missouri Western State and the event will end for SE with a 3:30 contest against Truman State.
 
Southeastern enters the weekend with a 2-13 mark overall on the season, including a 1-5 mark on neutral courts.
 
Megan Kunkel and Emily Gentle pace the Storm offense with 2.96 kills per set each.  Ariel Sanders has picked up the pace in recent matches and is currently at 1.15 kps.
 
Madelynne Cera continues to play all over the floor in her duties as setter, averaging 6.61 assists per set to go with 1.24 kps, 2.88 digs per set and a total of 17 blocks on the year.
 
On the defensive back row, Taylore Benner leads a group of five player with 2.00-or-more digs per set.  Benner is picking up 4.10 dps, while Cera, Kunkel, Gentle and Marina Dias each average more than two.
 
Natasha Smith and Jasmine Everage lead the defense at the net with Smith stopping 39 attempts on the year and Everage right behind with 36.
 
Emporia State comes into the weekend with a 9-6 record overall and a 3-3 mark in MIAA play.  ESU has lost two-straight, but one of those was a 3-2 decision to No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
 
Washburn enters the tournament with a 14-1 record and is ranked No. 4 in the nation.
 
Missouri Western State comes to Topeka with a 9-7 record and a 3-4 mark in MIAA play.
 
Truman State is currently on a three-match winning streak and is 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA.
