Southeastern Welcomes In-State Rival UCO

Live Video | Live Stats
DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will return to the court in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium to host in-state rival Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9.

The Savage Storm come into the contest in the midst of an eight-game losing skid that was exacerbated by the stiff competition at the Washburn Regional Crossover this past weekend where SE was 0-4 against tough Central region competition.  Southeastern is 2-17 overall on the year coming into the Tuesday matchup.

The Bronchos enter the contest with a 6-11 record overall on the season, but are coming off a 3-1 win over East Central a week ago.

The Storm offense will be looking to Emily Gentle and Megan Kunkel to carry the load as they have for much of the season.  Gentle is coming off an all-tournament weekend in Topeka, Kan., and is averaging 2.84 kills per set on the year.  Kunkel is right on her heels at 2.75 kps.

Madelynne Cera is dishing out 5.54 assists per set from the setter position, but has been busy all over the floor, chipping in 1.11 kills per set along with 2.32 digs per set and 19 blocks on the defensive side.

That back row defense has been paced by Taylor Benner at 3.71 digs per set which leads a group of five player that average better than two dps.  That group includes Kunkel, Gentle, Cera and Marina Dias.

Natasha Smith leads the charge at the net to the tune of 46 total blocks on the year, while Jasmine Everage is not far behind with 43 stops.

UCO is led by Morgan Ray who is averaging 3.59 kills per set, while Faith Harmon has handled the setting duties with 8.31 assists per set.

Defensively, Tate Hardaker leads the back line with 4.98 digs per set and Juliette Smith paces the front line with a total of 58 blocks on the year.
