ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Madelynne Cera turned in the first triple-double in Southeastern volleyball history and helped guide the Savage Storm to a 3-1 road win over Ouachita Baptist on Friday night in Arkadelphia, Ark.
SE won the first set by a 25-21 margin, dropped set two 25-23, but finished strong with wins of 25-22 and 29-27 in the final two sets to seal the win. The Storm improve to 5-24 on the year and will be back on the court on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Henderson State.
Cera had been flirting with the triple-double all season before finally closing the deal on Friday with 10 kills, 32 assists and 11 digs. Both her kills number and her assists numbers were season highs. She hit .364 on the attack and finally hit her triple-double after turning in eight double-doubles throughout the season.
While Cera's triple-double stole the show, it was
Emily Gentle who guided the offense with a season-best 23 kills, while turning in a double-double with 10 digs.
Megan Kunkel also turned in a double-double, collecting 14 kills and adding 12 digs.
In all, five players turned in double-digit dig totals on, led by 19 from
Taylor Benner with
Kristin Martin's 12 in addition to the three listed previously.
Jasmine Everage turned in a pair of solo blocks and held a 5-to-4 advantage in team blocks.
