Savage Storm Stumble on the Road

COMMERCE, Texas – Megan Kunkel paced an oft stymied Southeastern offense as Texas A&M-Commerce handed the Savage Storm a 3-0 loss on Tuesday evening in Commerce, Texas.
 
The loss drops the Storm to 2-10 on the year heading into a two-game weekend with preseason Great American Conference favorites Arkansas Tech and Harding.
 
SE will host ATU at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 and follow with a 7 p.m. contest on Sept. 29 against Harding to wrap a busy homecoming week.
 
Southeastern stumbled out of the gate in the first set with TAMUC running away with a 25-12 win before the Storm fought back in the second set before seeing its lead dissipate down the stretch, falling in a 2-0 hole with a 25-20 loss.  The Lions would reel off the final six points in the final set to clinch the match with a 25-17 win in the third set.
 
Kunkel's 10 kills accounted for nearly half the offense on the night, with Emily Gentle chipping in five kills and Ariel Sanders adding four.

Madelynne Cera dished out 18 assists on the contest and added three kills and six digs.
 
Kunkel completed the double-double with a team-best 11 digs, while Taylor Benner added eight.
 
Kunkel and Natasha Smith led SE in blocks with two each.
