Volleyball Sets Out on Arkansas Road Swing

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will be looking to get back in the win column when it dives back into Great American Conference play with an Arkansas road swing that takes them to Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m. on Friday and Harding at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
The Savage Storm have hit a rough patch with back-to-back losses, slipping to 6-6 overall on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
 
Despite the recent losses, SE still boasts two of the top 10 attackers in the league with Emily Gentle third in the league with 4.00 kills per set, just 0.19 behind the leader, while Megan Kunkel is seventh in the GAC with 2.93 kps.
 
The attack numbers are aided by the setting work of Madelynne Cera who has lifted her assist totals form a season ago and is third in the league with 9.38 assists per set.  She also pitches in 1.22 kills per set along with 2.41 digs per set.
 
Taylor Benner leads the defense on the back row and is fifth in the league with 3.80 dps, while Kunkel is not far behind with 3.16 per set, and five others are averaging two-or-more digs per set.
 
Julia Benford has led SE at the net on defense with 23 blocks on the year, while Ariel Sanders is right behind with 22 and Gentle behind her at 21.
 
First up on Friday are the Golden Suns from ATU who enter the contest with a 9-4 mark overall and a 3-1 record in GAC play which puts them in fourth.
 
Their lone GAC loss came at the hand of HU and they have won back-to-back matches.
 
The squad is paced offensively by Emily Todd who is averaging 3.16 kills per set, but they also have three others who average more than two kills per set.
 
Amber Cerillos handles the setting duties and is one of the two setters dishing out more assists than Cera with a conference-best 9.76 aps.
 
Morgan McKeller leads the defense with 4.48 digs per set, while Katie Huff has chipped in a team-best 29 clocks on the season.
 
Harding enters the weekend with a 3-0 league record and a GAC best 12-5 overall record and are on a four-match winning streak.
 
Mollie Arnold leads the team and the GAC with 4.19 kills per set, while Taryn Eubank is dishing out 9.60 assists per set and is the other setter above Cera in the assists rankings.
 
Lisa Copeland paces the back row with 5.22 digs per set, while Liv Savage patrols the net to the tune of 65 blocks on the season.
