DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the 2013 spring tennis season with a trip to Dallas, Texas, to face Dallas Baptist at 3 p.m. on Feb. 8 and Midwestern State at 3 p.m. on Feb. 9.
The Savage Storm come into the spring off an impressive fall season with wins in both head-to-head matches and an impressive showing at the ITA Regional in Springfield, Mo.
That showing is a big part of why the men have climbed to a National ranking of No. 47 and a regional mark of No. 5 in the Central Region.
SE will continue to lean on
Luka Radulovic to pace the squad at the top and he looks to be rising to that challenge, moving to No. 8 in the region in singles.
He is also teaming with newcomer Martin Bedcarratz to play doubles and the duo has earned a regional ranking of No. 10.
SE's first opponent, DBU, opened its spring season with a pair of losses to McMurry and Hardin-Simmons, dropping the first 9-0 before seeing the second slip away at 6-3.
The Storm will then face a challenge in former Lone Star Conference rival Midwestern State who comes into the season ranked No. 5 in the South Central Region and No. 24 nationally.
They are led by Luke Joycein singles play who is ranked No. 5 in the region.
The Mustangs also feature a pair of regionally ranked doubles teams in Joyce and Colby Meeks at No. 5 as well as Jarrod Liston and Tomas Gretjak at No. 9.
SE will spend the first two weekends of the season on the road before returning to the Southeastern Tennis Complex for its home opener against Austin College at 3 p.m. on Feb. 19.
