DURANT, Okla. – After back-to-back individual tournament trips, Southeastern men's and women's tennis will face its first team opponent when each club hosts Oklahoma Baptist at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

Both teams are coming off of strong performances in singles and doubles at individual tournaments in Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls, Texas.

On the opening weekend, the women's team placed four players into the finals of their respective flights.
Â
Ilga Racika-Racko and Cassuandra Braaten each won their flights, while
Conchi Assiego and
Elba Haugen each reached a final before suffering a loss.
Â
The men's team was nearly as strong, posting a 30-2 record in its matches on day one of the event.
Â
Renato Joao was the only flight champions in singles play, while Chris Carillo,
Alberto Blesa,
Tiago Ferreira, Martin Bedcarratz and
Billy Haugen would each advance to the semifinals, with Ferreira joining Joao as a flight finalist.

The doubles teams for the men also fared well as the duo of Joao and Haugen won flight two doubles by besting team mates Carillo and Joaquin Aquilera in the final.

In the first flight Nelmes and Bedcarratz reached a semifinal, as did Blesa and Ferreira.

At the MSU Open in Wichita Falls, the men posted another solid outing with Joao and Ferreira making the semifinals in flight four, while Aquilera made the semis in flight five.

Bedcarratz also made a quarter final appearance.
Â
The women were limited by some injuries, but Haugen posted a solid outing by reaching the semifinals in her flight.
Â
Following the team match on Monday, the Savage Storm tennis programs will be back on the road for individual tournament play when they travel to Springfield, Mo., to play in the ITA Regional Tournament.

They will return to Durant one final time in the fall when the Storm host Austin College on Oct. 1.
