Southeastern Set for Trio of Road Matches

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will continue its road trip over the weekend, this time heading east for a conference matchup against Henderson State at 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, followed by a 6 p.m. non-conference tilt with Alabama-Huntsville that evening and a 10 a.m. non-conference meeting with Ouachita Baptist on Oct. 18.
 
All three games will be played in Arkadelphia, Ark., with the first two hosted by HSU and the third played at OBU.
 
The Savage Storm enter the weekend with an 11-9 record overall and a 5-3 mark in GAC play, but are coming off a 3-2 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State which ended the SE winning streak at three-games.
 
Despite the loss the team has won six of its last eight matches and if the season ended today would hold the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
 
Southeastern has been paced by Megan Kunkel who is averaging 2.99 kills per set, while Emily Gentle is right behind at 2.74 and Julia Benford is adding 2.26 per set.
 
Alissa Benson is triggering the offense with 8.25 assists per set, while adding 1.74 digs per set and 33 total blocks on the year.
 
The defense is led on the back row by Kelsey Zerkel who is averaging 4.05 digs per set, followed by a trio of player averaging over two per set which include Kunkel, Courtney Miller and Gentle.
 
Julia Benford took over the lead at the net with 58 total blocks, while Gentle is right behind with 57 and Ariel Sanders right behind her at 56.
 
The Reddies come into the Friday matchup at 3-17 overall on the year and 0-9 in GAC play and have lost five of their last six matches.
 
HSU is led by Jessica Moss who is averaging 3.55 kills per set, while Nayeli Colunga is next in line at 2.67.
 
Ryleigh Thompson leads the way in setting with 9.04 assists per set, while the defense is led by Andjela Reljic who is averaging 4.81 digs per set and Moss who has 54 blocks on the season.
 
UAH comes into the weekend with an 11-7 record overall and an 8-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play after winning their last two and five of their last six.
 
The Chargers have a foursome of players averaging over two kills per set, led by the 2.81 of Olivia Bauman, while Ashton Baker is dishing out 8.41 assists per set.
 
Kennedie Lariscy leads the defense with 3.72 digs per set, while the net is patrolled by Haley Snyder who had 49 blocks on the year.
 
The Tigers are 11-6 on the year heading into the weekend but have lost three of their last four matches.
 
OBU is led by Abby Pickett at 2.23 kills per set, while Tara Wait is handling the setting duties with 8.76 assists per set.
 
Ashley Wake leads the defense with 4.53 digs per set, while Kelley Ballard leads the defense at the net with 51 total blocks.
