DURANT, Okla. – After a six-game road swing and a span of 20 days the Southeastern volleyball team will finally return home to take on a pair of Great American Conference rivals, first facing Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3 with a 10:30 a.m. matchup with Harding on Oct. 4. Both games will be in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
The Savage Storm come into the weekend with an 8-7 record overall and a 2-1 record in conference play.
Friday's matchup with actually be the home opener for SE's regular home venue of Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium, with its first five home games being played in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Southeastern is currently riding a three-match winning streak, two of which were GAC matchups on the road, with the last two wins coming in five-set thrillers.
The Storm has a trio of hitters averaging two-or-more kills per set, led by
Emily Gentle at 2.98 kps, while
Megan Kunkel is at 2.81 and
Julia Benford has posted 2.21.
Alissa Benson leads the way setting with 7.75 assists per set, but has split time with
Madelynne Cera who is dishing out 4.65 assists per set.
Kelsey Kerkel leads the defense in digs with 3.79, while Kunkel is at 3.05 and two others are averaging more than two digs per set.
Gentle and Benford lead the defense at the net with 39 blocks on the season each, with
Ariel Sanders just behind at 38.
ATU comes to Durant with a 12-5 record overall and a 4-1 mark in GAC play and has won four-straight.
Emily Todd leads the Golden Sun offense with 3.14 kills per set, with Sierra Nighswonger dishing out 9.43 assists per set.
On defense, Madison Nagel is picking up 5.58 digs per set, while Katie Huff has racked up 43 blocks on the season.
HU enters the weekend 8-4 overall and 3-1 in league play, and has won four of its last five.
Marindia Turner leads the offense with 3.21 kills per set, while Taryn Eubanks triggers the offense with 10.26 assists per set.
On defense, Anna Leigh Cargile is turning in 4.07 digs per set, while Liv Savage has posted 49 blocks on the season.
