Box Score DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern opened play in the South Central Classic by overcoming a slow start in the first set before pulling away for a 3-0 win over Langston on Friday afternoon.

The Savage Storm improved to 3-3 on the season and will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday against No. 7 Washburn.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair, with SE trailing 23-21 near the set's end.

The Storm would rally for a pair of points out of a timeout to tie the match at 23-23, but LU would answer and the team's traded side outs until
Charlene Nerio tied the match at 25 to key three-straight points with a
Megan Kunkel kill sealing the set.

The second set let SE breathe a little easier as they opened up a 4-1 lead early and LU would never get closer than two points for the remainder of the set in a 25-17 SE win.

The Storm started the third set on a 3-0 run and pushed ahead 8-2 and used two other four-point runs to cruise to a 25-13 win in the clinching set.

Emily Gentle turned in the team's only double-digit kill outing, but nine other players collected at least one kill, with Nerio adding eight while Kunkel and
Caitlyn Mills each turning in six.

Madelynne Cera turned in 30 assists to drive the offense while adding six digs.

Kunkel and
Kelsey Zerkel each picked up 12 digs in the effort, while at the net Gentle and Mills each added three blocks.
