LIVE VIDEO | LIVE STATSDURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will aim to bounce back from a tough five-set loss at Cameron when it travels to the state capital to play Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18.
Southeastern enters the contest at 4-6 on the year following its second loss in a week in which SE found itself down 2-0 only to rally and force a fifth set and dropping those fifth sets.
The Savage Storm offense is still out-killing its opponents 13.4-to-12.4 kps as a team, led by
Emily Gentle and
Megan Kunkel who are each averaging over three kills per set.
Gentle is posting 3.33 kps to pace the club, while Kunkel is right behind at 3.14 kps, while
Julia Benford,
Courtney Miller and
Ariel Sanders are each adding at least 1.74 kps.
Benford turned in a career-high 21 kills in the loss at Cameron on Tuesday to lift her total to 2.31 on the season.
Allissa Benson has triggered the offense to the tune of 8.91 assists, while splitting the duties with
Madelynne Cera who is dishing out 6.13 assists per set.
Defensively
Kelsey Zerkel leads the back row with 3.902 digs per set, just ahead of Kunkel's 3.58, while Miller is averaging 2.16 per set.
Gentle and Sanders lead the team at the net with 21 blocks each, while Benford is right behind at 18 and Benson has added 13.
The Stars come into the contest at 8-2 on the season playing an NAIA schedule, with its lone D-II contest being a 3-2 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
OCU is led by Kriten Macy who is averaging 3.88 kills per set, while Taylro Chase is dishing out 10.22 assists per set to trigger the offense.
Kelley Shiels leads the Star defense with 5.09 digs per set, while at the net Meghan Irwin has posted 35 blocks on the year.
