Julia Benford led a balanced Southeastern attack as the Savage Storm had six players with five-or-more kills en route to a 3-1 win over Oklahoma City on Thursday night in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The win lifts the club to 5-6 on the year heading into a five-day layoff before taking on Tarleton State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 23 in Stephenville, Texas.
Benford was the only player for the Storm to reach double-figures with 10 kills, while
Emily Gentle chipped in eight and
Courtney Miller added seven.
Alissa Benson paced the attack with 18 assists, while
Madelynne Cera added nine assists.
SE shone on defense at the net where the team posted 10.5 blocks, led by seven from Benford.
Kelsey Zerkel led the back row defense with 12 assists, while Cera added 11.
SE rallied after dropping the first set 25-20, pulling away late in the second set to even the match score at 1-1 with a 25-18 win.
The followed up with two more identical 25-18 wins in the third and fourth sets to pull out the 3-1 win.
