SE Returns to GAC Play at SAU, UAM

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will step back into Great American Conference play when it makes a south Arkansas road swing to face Southern Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 in Magnolia, Ark., followed by a Sept. 27 matchup with Arkansas-Monticello at noon in Monticello, Ark.
 
The Savage Storm enter the weekend with a 5-7 record overall and an 0-1 mark in GAC play having taken a 17 day break in conference play, playing seven non-conference matches in that span.
 
Southeastern will look toward Emily Gentle to lead the way on offense as she paces the club with 3.08 kills per set, while Megan Kunkel and Julia Benford are each averaging more than two per set.
 
Alissa Benson and Madelynne Cera have split the setting duties on the season with Benson dishing out 8.12 assists per set, while Cera is adding 5.09 per set.
 
Defensively Kelsey Zerkel has led the way on the back row with 3.70 digs per set, while Kunkel is right behind at 3.26.  Courtney Miller is averaging 2.18 per set, while four others are averaging at least one digs per set.
 
At the net Ariel Sanders has led the defense, turning in 28 blocks on the year to edge out Benford and Gentle who have 25 each.
 
SAU comes into the matchup at 3-11 overall and 1-2 in league play but have won their last two matches.
 
They are led offensively by Amanda Monge who is posting 2.75 kills per set, while Taylor Reaume is handling the setting duties at 8.48 per set.
 
Defensively Hannah Rice leads the Muleriders on the back row with 4.65 digs per set, while Ali O'Banion paces the club at the net with 49 blocks.
 
UAM comes into the weekend with a 4-5 mark on the season and a 1-2 record in GAC play, but have won three of their last four.
 
Sydni Shulz leads the Cotton Blossom offense with 2.25 kills per set, while Kaila Kikugawa is dishing out a team-high 4.60 assists per set.
 
They are led on defense by Lani Kaiwi with 3.45 digs per set, while Tasha Evans has posted 29 blocks on the year.
