DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern put three players in double-digit kills, but was unable to get big points when they needed them in a heartbreaking five-set loss to Harding on Friday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 4-14 on the season and 2-5 in Great American Conference play heading into an out of league matchup with Dallas Baptist on Oct. 13 in Durant at 6 p.m.
Julia Benford led the offensive charge with 14 kills, while
Abby Jameson added 11 and
Kristina Bergman chipped in 10.
Arianna Baker was just behind with eight.
Alissa Benson still dished out 47 assists as the Storm managed to finish with a 55-to-45 edge in total kills, but also suffered 10 more errors than the Bisons.
Charlene Nerio put up 25 digs to lead all players in the match, while Benson added 12 and
Erika Costain chipped in 10.
SE also held an edge on the block with 11.0-to-9.0, with Benson getting in on seven for the match, followed by Bakers six and Benford's five.
The Storm, took control early and picked up a 25-18 win in set one, but HU rallied and edged out a 25-19 win in set to even the match at 1-1. The Storm regained control with a 25-22 win in the third set, but again the Bisons evened the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth .
Southeastern was unable to keep the alternating pattern going however as HU swiped the final set 15-10 to steal the win.
