DURANT, Okla.  – No. 29 Southeastern made possibly its biggest splash in a season full of splashes on Friday when it picked up a commanding 7-2 win over Great American Conference favorite and 18th-ranked Ouachita Baptist at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in GAC play with its next action slated for April 7 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex against Arkansas-Ft. Smith.

Despite dropping the matchup at one doubles, SE still came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to an 8-3 win by Max Fil and Jack Gibbens at number two and an 8-5 win for Petar Popovic and Paul Nguyen at number three.

Fil continued in singles play by pushing the lead to 3-1 with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at one singles.

The Tigers would steal a point back at two to make the score 3-2, but that was as close as it would get.

Tiago Ferreira would bounce back from a second-set loss to win 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 and give SE a 4-2 lead in the match.

Gibbens would clinch he match at number four with a 7-5, 6-1 win for a 5-2 lead.

That was followed by a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 win by Popovic at five and a 6-3, 6-2 win by Joaquin Aguilera at six to fashion the final of 7-2.

The win is the team's third-straight and third of the season over a higher-ranked Division II opponent.
