SE Set to Host South Central Classic

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the home portion of its schedule when it opens play in the South Central Classic on Sept. 11-12 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
The tournament, co-hosted with rival East Central, sees the Savage Storm open on Sep. 11 at noon against Fort Hays State, with a 7 p.m. matchup against William Jewell on Friday night.  The event continues on Sept. 12 with a 2 p.m. contest against Texas A&M-Commerce and finishes at 7 p.m. on Saturday night with a matchup against Panhandle State.

SE comes into the weekend with a 1-3 record after a season-opening trip to Florida.
 
The Storm was paced on its opening weekend by freshman Abby Jameson who tallied 4.00 kills per set over her first four collegiate games which is the fourth-best mark thus far in the Great American Conference.
 
Julia Benford added 2.54 kills per set, while three others averaged at least one per set while on the floor.
 
Alissa Benson is dishing out 8.69 assists per set on the year while also adding 2.15 digs per set and a total of six blocks.
 
On the back row Charlene Nerio paces the club with 4.31 digs per set, while three others are averaging at least two per set.
 
At the net the Storm holds a slight edge over its foes, 18.0-to-17.5 in blocks, led by the 10.0 total blocks from Benford, while Arianna Baker is right behind with 8.0.
 
FHSU comes to town with a 1-3 record on the year as well after a tournament in Marquette, Mich., to open the season.
 
They are led on offense by Crystal Whitten who is averaging 3.13 kills per set, while on defense Mallory Flagor leads a group of four defenders averaging over 2.00 digs per set.
 
William Jewell is 1-3 on the young season after a trip to Alabama-Huntsville's tournament where the lone win they landed was over GAC foe Southern Arkansas.
 
Raechel Meisinger leads the Cardinal offense with 3.80 kills per set, while on defense Olivia Tolberd paces the club in digs with 3.80 per set, while Grace Miller has racked up 19 total blocks.
 
TAMUC comes to town with a 3-2 record on the year that includes a 1-2 record against GAC opponents.
 
Layne Little is averaging 3.35 kills per set to lead the offense, while Ashley Mireles and Jaslyn Wacker lead the defense with 4.60 digs per set and 16 total blocks, respectively.
 
OPSU comes into the weekend with a 1-5 record and has lost its last three contests.
