SE Sets Out on Arkansas Road Swing

DURANT, Okla. – After snagging its first Great American Conference victory, Southeastern will now set out looking to add to it as they make a central Arkansas road swing to face Arkansas Tech and Harding Oct. 7-8, respectively.
 
The Savage Storm enter the weekend road trip with an 8-9 record and a 1-4 mark in GAC play, snapping a conference-opening losing skid with a 3-0 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 1.
 
Friday's matchup with ATU is slated for a 6 p.m. first serve in Russellville, Ark., while Saturday's contest at HU is set for 2 p.m. in Searcy, Ark.
 
Karine Cavalcante leads the Storm offense with 2.97 kills per set, just ahead of Abby Jameson at 2.91 per set.
 
Julia Benford is on their heels as well with 2.47 kps, while four others are averaging one kill per set or better as SE holds a 12.33-to-11.62 advantage in kills per set over its opponents.
 
Alissa Benson triggers that offense to the tune of 9.75 assists per set, while also pitching in on defense where she is picking up 2.15 digs per set.
 
The bulk of the defense on the back row is handled by the conference digs leader Caitlin Cosby who is averaging 5.44 digs per set, 0.50 dps ahead of the second ranked player.
 
Cavalcante and Benson are each averaging better than two digs per set as the Storm holds a 16.07-to-14.62 advantage in digs as a team.
 
Arianna Baker leads the net defense with 35 total blocks, while Benford is next in line at 29.
 
The Golden Suns head into Friday's contest at 12-7 overall and 4-1 in league play and currently riding a four-match winning streak, three of which were against non-conference opponents.
 
Hunter Eshnaur leads the offense with 3.52 kills per set, while Sarah Rosinke is dishing out 6.42 assists per set.
 
On defense, Madison Nagel is leading the way with 4.67 digs per set, while Lauren Rodemers and McCall Wilkins are pacing the net play with 46 and 44 total blocks, respectively.
 
The Bisons are 11-4 overall on the year and 3-2 in GAC play, winning its last match out over Southern Arkansas.
 
A group of five players are averaging two kills per set or better, led by 2.56 per set from Emily Clayton, while Abigail Glosup is handing out 10.08 assists per set.
 
Taylor Lake is turning in 4.81 digs per set on the back row, while Zoe Hardin has tallied 87 total blocks.
