ADA, Okla. – Southeastern opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 7-2 win over Cowley County CC in Ada, Okla., over the weekend and on the heels saw a bump to No. 23 in the ITA National Poll released this week.

The win over the No. 6 ranked team in the NJCAA gets the Savage Storm off to a 1-0 start, but due to weather conditions will have to wait for its home opener and instead prep for a Feb. 28 road trip to take on Southwest Baptist in Fort Smith, Ark.

SE was successful at the top of the lineup in singles and doubles play, with the duo of
Maksim Fil and
Netanel Alcabas picking up an 8-5 win at one doubles.

That was followed up by a 9-7 victory at the two position by
Tiago Ferreira and
Alberto Blesa before the Storm's number three doubles team fell to make the score 2-1 heading to singles play.

The top of the lineup was solid there as well with Fil rallying for a 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 win at the number one position to push the lead to 3-1.

Alcabas would join his doubles partner in victory with a 6-3, 7-6 win in the two position to mount a 4-1 edge.

CCCC would pick up its only singles win at the number three spot, but
Jack Gibbens would clinch the match with a 7-6, 6-3 win at number four to make the score 5-2.

Ferreira would pile on with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the five position, followed in kind by
Petar Popovic who downed his opponent in the number six spot 7-5, 6-2.
