DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will put its newfound rankings on the line when it opens regional play on Feb. 28 in Ft. Smith, Ark., in a neutral site meeting with regional foe Southwest Baptist followed by the home and Great American Conference opener on Feb. 29 against Oklahoma Baptist at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Savage Storm enter the back-to-back matchups off a 7-2 win over top-10 ranked Cowley County CC to open the spring season a week ago, but had its original home opener postponed due to midweek weather issues.

In its win over CCCC the Storm opened with a 2-1 win in doubles play on the strength of wins at No. 1 by Maksim Fill and Netanel Alcabas, with Tiago Ferreira and Alberto Blesa winning at the two position.

Fil, Alcabas, Jack Gibbens, Ferreira and Petar Popovic would all pick up singles wins as well.

Off the wins the Storm climbed two spots in the national poll to No. 23 and held firm to its No. 4 ITA Central Region ranking.

SBU is nipping at SE's heels in both the national and the regional poll, sitting at No. 29 and No. 5 respectively.

The Bearcats are 3-1 on the year and have won three-straight since a season-opening loss to another GAC school in No. 13 Ouachita Baptist.

They are led by Serif Abohabaga who is ranked No. 26 in singles play.

Oklahoma Baptist is the newest member of the GAC and will be making its first trip to Durant as a member of the NCAA after opening the year 1-2 with losses to Cameron and Drury and a win over Graceland.

The Bison are led by Daniel Aguilera who is ranked No. 45 individually while the team has not entered the national or regional rankings.
