DURANT, Okla. – No. 24 Southeastern bounced back from its first loss of the season in style after picking up a 6-3 win over No. 33 St. Edward's on Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 8-1 on the season heading into an April 1 matchup against No. 26 Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark.
After falling at one doubles, SE rallied with Albeto Blesa and
Tiago Ferreira picking up an 8-6 win at number two to even the score.
Petar Popovic and
Mislav Colak would gut out a 9-8 win at the three position to give the Storm a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
No. 45 singles player
Maksim Fil would stretcht he lead to 3-1 with a 6-4, 7-6 win at one singles.
SEU would get a point back with a win at number two, but
Jack Gibbens would answer with a rally win at the three spot, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
The Storm would clinch the match with a Blesa win at the four spot, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
The Hilltoppers would get one more win at five, but Ferreira would finish the match off with a 7-6, 3-6, 10-6 win at the six position for the 6-3 final score.
