FORT SMITH, Ark. – No. 24 Southeastern picked up a sweep of doubles play and proceeded to cruise to an 8-1 win over Arkansas-Ft. Smith in Fort Smith, Ark.
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 10-2 overall heading into an April 7 home match against Collin County CC at 3 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Maksim Fil and
Tiago Ferreira led things off with an 8-5 win at the one doubles position.
Netanel Alcabas and
Alberto Blesa followed suit with an 8-4 win at number two.
Jack Gibbens and
Petar Popovic rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at the three position.
Fil carried his momentum into singles play where he pushed the lead to 4-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at one singles.
Alcabas would then follow up with the match clinching win at number two, 6-4, 6-2.
Blesa turned in a 6-2, 7-6 win at number three and Gibbens finished off a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four to open up a 7-0 lead.
Ferreira would pick up the team's final win, 6-2, 6-0 at the number five spot, while UAFS would pick up the six position to make the final 8-1.
