DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will open up the 2016 season when it hosts the South Central Classic Sept. 2-3 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The tournament will feature eight teams and be played across two courts.

SE opens against Union at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 7 p.m. contest against New Mexico Highlands.
Â
The Storm will then take on Texas A&M-International on Saturday at noon and close out the weekend with a 5 p.m. contest against Central Oklahoma.

Southeastern heads into the season picked to finish ninth in the Great American Conference.

SE returns a pair of all-conference honorees in
Julia Benford and
Abby Jameson after finishing eighth last season with a 7-23 record and a 5-11 mark in GAC play.

Benford averaged 2.88 kills per set and was top-five in the league in hitting percentage at .306. She also added 66.0 blocks on defense which was second on the team.

Jameson led the team and was ranked in the top-10 in kills per set after posting 3.55 kps as a freshman. She was also second on the team in digs, picking 2.74 digs per set.

Union heads into the weekend picked to finish seventh in the Gulf South Conference, while New Mexico Highlands was picked in 15
th in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Storm's Saturday opponents step up in projected finish with Texas A&M-International picked fifth in the Heartland Conference, while former conference rival Central Oklahoma is picked second in the MIAA.
