SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 19 Southeastern saw its struggles continue on Monday afternoon in a hard-fought loss at the hands of No. 46 Oklahoma Baptist, falling 5-4 in Shawnee, Okla.
Â
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in Great American Conference play.
Â
SE's woes in doubles play continued as only
Mislav Colak and
Kelian Bouteiller were able to pick up a win, downing OBU's duo of Lucas Castelo Branco and Matias Le Fort 8-6 at the number three position, leaving the team in a 2-1 hole heading to singles play.
Â
A win by the Bison at the one spot would deepen the deficit for the Storm, however
Netanel Alcabas would look to kick start a rally when he downed Branco 7-6, 6-4 at the number two position.
Â
The momentum carried over to Bouteiller at the three position as he picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Luis Romero to event he match at 3-3.
Â
Colak would then tack on a singles victory in the four position, topping Le Fort 6-0, 2-6, 7-6 to hold a 4-3 lead.
Â
Unfortunately, that was the final win as OBU would take the matches at the five and six spots to hand the Storm a 5-4 loss.
