DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball opens the 2017 season Sept. 1-2 when it hosts the South Central Classic beginning with a 2 p.m. matchup with Minnesota-Crookston on Friday.

SE will take on Central Missouri at 7 p.m. that night followed by a noon contest on Saturday with Texas A&M-International and a 7 p.m. matchup with Dallas Baptist.

The tournament will also feature regional foes Southern Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist, Southern Nazarene, and Cameron.

SE heads into the season picked to finish seventh in the Great American Conference preseason poll.

The Savage Storm finished the 2016 season with a 15-17 record overall and a 6-10 mark in Great American Conference play, but turned in one of the league's biggest surprises of the year by upsetting the top seed in the opening round and advancing to the tournament finals.

Southeastern returns its top offensive weapon in Jameson who averaged 3.37 kills per set last season as well as its setter in Benson who was dishing out 10.3 assists per set.

Caitlin Cosby returns on the back row as well after ranking at the top of the conference in digs with 5.76 digs per set.
