Football Set for Road Test at OBU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will set out to maintain its claim at the top of the Great American Conference standings when it travels to Arkadelphia, Ark. to take on fellow unbeaten Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m. on Saturday night.

Fans can catch the game on the Southeastern Sports Network with Jay Lindly, Ed Meacham and Brian Crozier locally on Mix. 96.1 FM or online at GoSoutheastern.com/SESportsNet.

The contest features two of the GAC's three remaining unbeaten after two weeks of play, with Arkansas Tech as the third 2-0 team in the three-way tie for the lead in the league standings.

To move to 3-0 the Savage Storm will have to do something it hasn't done since the 1999 season – beat OBU in Arkadelphia.

SE won the 1999 contest 49-19 at OBU and picked up its last overall win in the series just last season, 45-38 in Durant.

With the exception of a lopsided SE win in 1999 and a lopsided Tiger win in 2013, the recent history predicts a tight contest on Saturday with 10 of the last 12 meetings decided by seven points or less.

The Storm defense enters the week as the top unit in the league, allowing just 8.5 ppg along with 321.5 yards per game and is tied for the lead in turnover margin at plus-1.5 per game.

Offensively SE is second in the GAC in points per game at 39.5 per outing and leads in total offense after racking up 521.5 yards per game over the first two weeks.

The Tigers enter the weekend averaging 34.5 ppg in wins over Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State, while defensively allowing 19.0 ppg.
