DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern took a hard-fought 2-1 lead after doubles play and carried that momentum into a 5-4 home-opening victory over St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The win gets the Savage Storm back on track after a 5-1 loss to Seward Country and moves them to 3-2 overall on the season.

The pair of
Carlos Anez and
Ondrej Nice picked up an 8-4 win at the one doubles spot to open up a 1-0 lead.

The Hilltoppers would even the match with a win at two doubles, however, the duo of
Jeremy Despont and
Danrich Kruger would respond with an 8-5 win at the number three position to break the tie and give SE a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

Anez would follow up with another win in singles play at the one position, downing SEU's top player 7-5, 6-2 for a 3-1 team lead.

The Hilltoppers would get a win at two singles to close the gap to 3-2 again.

Sandro Lena would respond in kind in the three singles spot with a 6-4, 6-4 win to put SE on the brink of victory.

Kruger would follow by clinching that win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at four position to make the score 5-2.

SEU would take the final two matches to make the final 5-4.
