DURANT, Okla. – On the heels of the 2018 NFL Draft, Southeastern's
Codey McElroy has signed to play for the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.
"I'm just really thankful for the opportunity they've given me," said McElroy, "And I can't wait to start working. I think it's a really good place for me with my situation and I'm ready to see how it goes."
"We're excited for Codey and the opportunity he has earned," said Southeastern head coach
Bo Atterberry. "It's a very difficult league to get an opportunity in. They search worldwide and regardless of level for the best talent, so when you get that call, you definitely earned it."
McElroy, a 6-6, 255-pound native Frederick, Okla., completed his eligibility this past fall and was an All-Great American Conference selection in his only season with the Savage Storm.
As a tight end, he hauled in 14 catches for 173 yards on the season, converting five of those grabs into touchdowns. He averaged 12.4 yards per catch and had a long reception of 42 yards for the year.
McElroy is the fourth player in Atterberry's four-year tenure with the Storm to sign a pro contract, joining
Franky Okafor (NFL & CFL),
Raheem Wilson (GFL), and Kent London (CFL).
