DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern head football coach
Bo Atterberry has announced a handful of changes to the Savage Storm coaching staff heading into the spring, highlighted by the promotion of
Troy Parker to defensive coordinator and the return of Lorenzo Mitchell as the recruiting coordinator.
Â
Additionally, SE will see
CJ Callaghan move from working with defensive backs to coaching linebackers, while
Tre Martin and Caleb Bartlett join the staff as new additions.
Â
Parker steps into the role of DC following the departure of Brandon Smith.
Â
He joined the Savage Storm staff in the spring of 2023 and has coached the defensive backs since then, a position he will still work directly with, and made the move to SE following a stint at Tioga HS.
Â
Parker was a student-athlete at Southeastern for five seasons and spent two years as a graduate assistant at the completion of his playing career.
Â
Mitchell returns to Southeastern and will work with the team's running backs in addition to serving as the recruiting coordinator.
Â
He returns following a season at his alma mater Winona State where he worked with the team's wide receivers. That was on the heels of a two year stop as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Missouri S&T. Mitchell has a previous stop at Southeastern as he was the running backs coach from 2021-2023.
Â
Callaghan is in his second season at Southeastern and will remain on defense and work with the team's linebackers after assisting with the defensive backs group a season ago.
Â
Martin makes the transition from inside the lines at Paul Laird Field to outside them as he completed a five-year stint as a defensive back for the Savage Storm football team in the fall and will now work directly with the defensive back position in his first coaching stop.
Â
Bartlett comes to Southeastern and will work with the team's defensive linemen after a stint as a GA at Hardin Simmons. While there he worked with the team's defensive line, and that on the heels of a stint as a student assistant and recruiter at Tarleton State.
