SE Football Kicks Off Fall Camp Friday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern saw the return of more than 130 athletes to Paul Laird Field at Spend Life Wisely Stadium on Friday as 2026 Fall Camp opened in preparation of the upcoming season.

"it's here," said head coach Bo Atterberry when asked about his favorite part of the first day of practice. "It's finally here and just to see all the new faces and old faces working together. I left without watching any film feeling really impressed based on those student-athletes and the coaches for them to pull that off in that efficient of a manner, and it not be really noticeable that there were guys that were doing it for their first time. Yeah, so it was it was pretty cool to see."

"You're installing certain schematic things on each side of the ball," he continued when asked about the main focus as practice begins, "of course, and starting from a foundation standpoint on your bread and butter runs and base defenses. But I think the techniques and just the fundamentals, their eyes, feet, hands, tackling, blocking, the things that really matter at the end of the day, and for so many years, in the game of football. So all those things."

Southeastern returns quarterbacks Luke Hohenberger and Levay Duncan who each saw significant time under center, while the offensive line returns seven players who saw starting action last season.

The Storm defense was among the best in the conference in 2025 and returns 9 players who made starts a season ago, led by Dylan Sebock, Josh Johnson, D'Teaurean Johnson, William Wallis, Kamron Fields, Andrew Grissom, and Prince Dweh who each earned All-GAC honors a year ago.

SE fans and members of the community can get an early preview of the season on Aug. 20 when the Savage Storm hosts a Football Scrimmage and Community Night at Spend Life Wisely Stadium with gates opening at 5:30 and the scrimmage beginning at 6 p.m. The event will give fans the opportunity to see SE football in action as wel as meeting members of every other Southeastern athletic program.

Southeastern kicks off the 2026 season on Thursday, Sept. 3 with a 6 p.m. road contest at Arkansas-Monticello before opening the home slate the following week on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. versus Ouachita Baptist on Paul Laird Field at Spend Life Wisely Stadium.
