Football Set for First Road test

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern sets out on its first road trip of the season as it looks to stay unbeaten when it takes on Oklahoma Baptist at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 in Shawnee, Okla.
 
The contest can be found live on the Southeastern Sports Network carried on the flagship Mix 96.1 in Durant as well as online at www.GoSoutheastern.com/SESportsNet. Jay Lindly heads into his third season calling the action and will be joined in the box by Ed Meacham with Rob Johnson working the sidelines.
 
The Savage Storm opened the season with a 35-0 victory over Southern Nazarene that saw them put up 382 yards of offense, but even more impressively hold its foe to 189 total yards in the game.
 
Kenneth Burks' 102 yards rushing led all runners as did his two rushing scores, while three others had at least 30 yards on the ground, including Austin Skinner who rushed for a score of his own.
 
Skinner also completed 12-of-16 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
 
Four of those passes went to Braxton Kincade who finished with 60 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Jaylen Sims hauled in five catches for 27 yards and a score.
 
Jacob Harper paced the defense with eight tackles and an interception, while Seu Luafatasaga added six stops.
 
Camerion Pumphrey recorded the team's lone sack.
 
Larry Bridges and Tajawin Smith each added an interception as well while the Storm finished plus-three in turnovers.
 
Saturday is the 23rd meeting between SE and OBU with the Bison holding 13-7-2 record all-time in the series.  The series was not played between 1941 and 2014, and since resuming with the 2015 season the Storm have won three-straight including last season's 21-17 nail-biter.
 
OBU put up 27 points in its opener, a one-point overtime victory over East Central, and accumulated 419 yards of total offense while allowing 362.
 
Preston Haire paced the offense with 315 yards passing and a score, while Tyler Steuver ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
