Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Storm Volleyball Cruises Past ECU, 3-0

DURANT, Okla. – Aleksandra Rodic and Caroline Griffith each had double-digit kills to lead Southeastern to a dominant victory over arch-rival East Central on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The win snaps a four-game losing streak and avenges a 3-2 loss at ECU earlier in the season heading into the final two games of the year beginning next week with a Nov. 12 road contest against Oklahoma Baptist at 5:30 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.

Rodic finished the night with a match-high 13 kills, while Griffith posted 10 and both hitters posted a .345 or higher attack percentage.

Hannah Grant and Malaysia Burns each just missed double-figures with nine kills apiece.

Arabella Bouchard dished out 37 assists in powering the offense to 42 total kills, and added eight digs in the effort.

Rodic also added three service aces, while Grace Shehadeh had two.

Defensively, Caitlin Cosby turned in 18 digs in the match to lead all defenders and moving her closer to second place on the Great American Conference career digs list. Her career total climbs to 2,341, just 18 digs shy of matching Arkansas Tech's Madison Nagel's mark of 2,359.

Shehadeh just missed double-digits with nine, while Bouchard added eight and Sydney Meget chipped in seven.

At the net, Malaysia Burns finished with three blocks to lead the defense.

The Storm played from behind for a chunk of the first set but caught fire late, erasing a small deficit with an 8-1 run capped by back-to-back Griffith kills to take a 23-18 lead en route to a 25-20 win in the set.

After falling behind 6-3 to open set two SE did not wait to play catch up as a Burns kill would trigger a 10-2 run capped by a Rodic kill to take a 13-8 lead and Southeastern would pull away to a 25-17 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Storm avoided the slow start in set three, opting to reel off an 8-3 run to open play in the set before closing out the set with five-straight points, three of the kills by Burns, to clinch the match with a 25-14 win in set three.
