DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's
Kevin Buckingham added a second First Team All-Region honor to his 2018-19 portfolio when he was named a to the Central Region team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Monday.
He becomes Southeastern's first All-Region selection since Eric Babers earned the honor in 2007 who also took home NABC honors.
This selection comes on the heels of being the first men's basketball player since joining the NCAA to earn Academic All-American honors.
He also helped the Savage Storm return to NCAA postseason play for the first time since 2007 when SE advanced to the regional final and earned All-Central Region tournament honors.
Buckingham currently ranks third in the GAC in scoring and is one of three player averaging 20-plus points per game, putting up 20.3 per outing and shooting 61.2 percent from the field while leading the league in rebounding with 9.5 rpg.
Buckingham was named the Great American Conference Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection and followed that by earning all-tournament team honors at the GAC Tournament.
