DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's
Kevin Buckingham has been named an honorable mention D2CCA All-American to cap his 2018-19 season honors.
Â
He picks up Southeastern's first All-American recognition since Eric Babers earned third team honors from the NABC in 2007.
Â
This selection comes on the heels of being the first men's basketball player since joining the NCAA to earn Academic All-American honors.
Â
He also helped the Savage Storm return to NCAA postseason play for the first time since 2007 when SE advanced to the regional final and earned All-Central Region tournament honors.
Â
Buckingham ranks third in the GAC in scoring and is one of three player averaging 20-plus points per game, putting up 21.6 per outing and shooting 60.2 percent from the field while leading the league in rebounding with 9.5 rpg.
Â
Buckingham was named the Great American Conference Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection and followed that by earning all-tournament team honors at the GAC Tournament.
