BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern rounded out a perfect weekend at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic with a 5-3 win over Upper Iowa before closing out the weekend with a 4-2 victory over Pittsburg State on Sunday afternoon in Bentonville, Ark.

The sweep improves the Savage Storm to 8-4 overall on the season as they return home for the home and Great American Conference opener Feb. 21-22 against Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Southeastern Softball Field.

In the day's opener against UIU
Katie McCullar collected three hits to lead the way, while
Symphoni Shomo,
Kamarie Wallace, and
Kennedy Salyers each posted two.

Wallace's two hits were both solo homers as she accounted for two RBI, while
Bailey Beard,
Kady Fryrear, and McCullar each drove in one.
Â
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed 3.2 innings while allowing two runs on three hits in a no decision.
Â
McCullar came on in relief and allowed one unearned run on five hits in 3.1 innings with three strikeouts to earn the victory.

Shomo singled and came around to score on a Fryrear single in the first to take a 1-0 lead.

Wallace would lead off the second with a solo bomb to stretch the lead to 2-0.

UIU would knot the game at 2-2 with a pair of solo homers in the bottom of the second.

A McCullar RBI single in the third would put the Storm back in front.

That lead stretched with an RBI single by Beard in the fourth and Wallace's second homer in the top of the sixth to go ahead 5-2.

UIU would pick up a run in the bottom half of the seventh to fashion the 5-3 final score.

In the finale against PSU,
Tena Spoolstra picked up two hits, while four others collected one each.

Fryrear accounted for two RBI while Chatellier drove in one.
Â
Ashley Hedrick got the start and tossed 5.2 innings while allowing one unearned run on two hits with three strikeouts to pick up the victory.

McCullar came on in relief and allowed a run on a hit in 1.1 innings of work to pick up her second save of the year.

Each team took advantage of a first inning error as the Gorillas put up a run in the top of the first and Shomo would come home on a Fryrear sac fly in the bottom half.

A Fryrear homer in the bottom of the fourth would break the tie while a Chatellier RBI would push the lead to 3-1 and Chatellier would come around to score two spots later on an error for a 4-1 lead.

PSU would tack on a solo homer in the seventh to fashion the 4-2 final score.
