RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern opened the series at Arkansas Tech with a 4-3 win, but saw its seventh-inning rally in game two come up short in a 5-4 loss on Friday night in Russellville, Ark.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 12-6 overall on the season and 4-2 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a  noon double-header on Saturday.

In the opener Shomo put together a 3-for-4 effort and added a stolen base, while
Karsyn Brigance and
Ivy Amador each collected two hits, with one of Amador's coming as a solo homer.

Kamarie Wallace connected on her fourth home run of the season and finished the game with three RBI, while Amador's homer accounted for the other run batted in.

Kady Fryrear,
Gracie Ore, and
Kennedy Salyers each added hits.

Amberlyn Walsworth got the start ad picked up her fourth win of the year after allowing two runs on four hits in 4.0 innings of work with four strikeouts.

Katie McCullar came on in relief and picked up her third save of the season after allowing one unearned run on three this over 3.0 innings with four strikeouts.

ATU picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead.

SE did not wait long to answer as the first two batters in the top of the second reached and after moving over on a groundout they would both come home on Wallace's homer to left for the 3-2 lead.

That would stretch to 4-0 a batter later when Amador collected a solo shot to left for the 4-2 lead.
Â
The Golden Suns would pick up a run on two hits and an error in the sixth inning but the Storm would get out of trouble and hang on for the 4-3 victory.

In game two Fryrear collected a pair of hits, one of them a double, along with an RBI to lead the offense.
Â
Four others picked up a hit each, with Wallace and Ore each driving in a run.

Ashley Hedrick got the start and left with a no decision after tossing 4.0 innings and allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits with one strikeout.

McCullar would come on and throw the final 2.1 innings and was hit for two runs on five hits while taking the loss.

SE got on the board first in the nightcap as Shomo singled to open the game and eventually came around to score on a Fryrear single to take a 1-0 lead.

The Suns would answer with solo homers in the second and the fourth before adding a third run in the fifth on a passed ball and a fourth in the sixth on an BRI double to go up 4-1 after six innings.

The Storm mounted a rally in the top of the seventh inning with a leadoff double by Fryrear who would score two batters later on a Wallace double.
Â
Wallace would then come home on an Ore triple and Ore would follow by tying the game at 4-4 when she scored on a wild pitch.
Â
Unfortunately, ATU would pick up the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded single to steal the game 5-4.
