EDMOND, Okla. – Southeastern head coach
Ron Faubion picked up his 900
th win as a collegiate head coach as the Savage Storm opened play at the UCO Invitational with a 7-1 win over Southwest Baptist, but SE finished the day with a 4-3 loss to host Central Oklahoma to split Friday's action.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 3-3 on the year heading into Saturday games against Missouri Southern State at 4 p.m. and Colorado Mines at 6 p.m.

Faubion's third win of the season gave him his 900
th career win at the college level and eh finished the day with a 900-433 record which equates to a .675 winning percentage.

In the weekend opener,
Karsyn Brigance and
Kyia Monahwee each collected two hits, while five others picked up one each.
Â
Kady Fryrear drove in a pair of runs, while Brigance, Monahwee,
Katie McCullar,
Tena Spoolstra, and
Ivy Amador each added one RBI.
Â
Ashley Hedrick got the start and tossed her first career complete game, allowing as run on five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings of work to pick up her first win of the season.

All scoring was quiet until the top of the fifth inning when SBU took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double.
Â
SE wasted little time answering as Monahwee would reach and steal second in the bottom half of the inning before scoring on a McCullar RBI single to knot the game at 1-1.
Â
But the Storm was not finished as Fryrear followed with an RBI single to score Spoolstra followed by an RBI single by Amador to plate Fryrear and take a 3-1 lead.

SE picked back up in the bottom of the sixth inning as Brigance would double home
Kennedy Salyers which was followed by an RBI double by Monahwee to score
Bailey Beard for a 5-1 lead.

Spoolstra would then follow with an RBI squeeze bunt to score Brigance, with Fryrear doing the same thing a batter later to plate Monahwee for the 7-1 lead which would hold to be the final.

In the nightcap, Shomo and Spoolstra each collected a pair of hits, while Monahwee,
Augusta Duty, and
Brittany Chatellier each collected one.

McCullar got the start and tossed four scoreless innings allowing four hits and striking out one in a no decision.

Hedrick would make her second appearance of the day but was tagged for four runs on six hits in two innings of work to suffer the loss.

Shomo opened the game with a single and promptly stole second before moving to third on a Spoolstra bunt single and scoring on an error for a 1-0 lead.

Spoolstra would then steal second and come around to score after a Brigance sac bunt and a Monahwee sac fly to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first inning.
Â
Neither team would find home until the fifth when Monahwee would single home Shomo to stretch the lead to 3-0 midway through the fifth.

SE would get out of a jam in the bottom of the fifth unscathed, but would not be so lucky in the sixth inning as the Bronchos connected on a two-run homer to close the gap to 3-2 and a two-out solo.

The Storm was unable to regain the lead in the topo of the seventh, but UCO took advantage of a leadoff double in the bottom half with a walk-off double to hand SE a 4-3 loss.
