MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southeastern battled to a split of Saturday's twinbill at Arkansas-Monticello, taking game one 8-6 to secure the series victory before falling in the finale 2-1 in Monticello, Ark.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 10-6 overall on the season and 7-5 in Great American Conference play.

In game one on Saturday,
Matt Miles,
Seth Morrow, and
Reid Rice each collected three hits, while
Colton Buckner added two as did
Joseph Ramirez.
Â
Miles and Morrow each added a pair of RBI as well, while Buckner, Rice, and Ramirez each plated one.
Â
Tyler Dean got the start and picked up the victory after tossing 8.0 innings and allowing five runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts.
Â
Kenneth Klier would come on and get the save after allowing a run on a hit with one strikeout in an inning of work.

Miles lead off the game with a double and scored two batter later on a Morrow RBI single, while Morrow would steal second and score himself on a Rice single to take a 2-0 lead.

UAM would pick up a run in the bottom half of the inning, but swipe the lead in the bottom of the second with four runs on five hits, four of them singles to open the inning, jumping ahead 5-2.

SE wasted no time finding an answer, with Morrow leading off the top of the third with a solo homer.
Â
Buckner would single and Rice was hit by a pitch, but Ramirez would connect on an RBI single to close the gap to 5-4, scoring Buckner.

Two batter later a Miles two-run single would regain the lead at 6-5, and
Dylan Herd would come around to score a run on a wild pitch, error combination to go ahead 7-5.

Both teams went silent through eight innings, but a Buckner RBI groundout in the top of the ninth would score Ricard Ware and push the lead to 8-5.

The Boll Weevils would answer with a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth but that was where the rally would end, with SE hanging on for an 8-6 victory.

In the finale,
Mason Whitmarsh would get the start and toss a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts, but was saddled with the loss, falling to 3-2 on the season.

Ware, Buckner, Rice,
Blake McQuain, and Herd each had a hit, with Buckner collecting the lone RBI.

The Weevils took the lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout.
Â
That lead would hold until the top of the fourth when Ware and Morrow reached to open the inning with Buckner driving in Ware on an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

UAM would pick up a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single, taking a 2-1 lead which would prove to be enough.
