DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern found itself playing catch up all day on Saturday as Southern Arkansas handed the Savage Storm a pair of losses to close out the series at Mike Metheny Field, with SE dropping game one 5-3 and game two 8-2.

The losses drops the Savage Storm to 11-9 overall on the season and 7-8 in Great American Conference play.

In Saturday's opener,
Slayde Ortiz would lead the way for the Storm in game one with a trio of hits along with an RBI.
Â
Reid Rice followed with a pair of hits, while
Seth Morrow, Hayden Evens, and
Blake McQuain each added a hit.
Â
Morrow and
Dylan Herd each added an RBI.
Â
Tyler Dean got the start and tossed 5.0 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts, earning the loss.

Jacob Bigham tossed 4.0 innings in relief and allowed a run on three hits.
Â
A two-run homer in the top of the first inning would give SAU an early lead which stretched to 3-0 on an RBI single in the second inning.
Â
A Herd sac fly followed by back-to-back RBI doubles from Morrow and Ortiz would tie the game at 3-3 after two innings.
Â
The Muleriders would tack on a run in the fifth on a wild pitch and another in the top of the seventh on an RBI single to take a 5-3 lead.

SE would threaten in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to bring a run home, leaving the final score 5-3.

In the finale, Morrow, Ortiz,
Colton Buckner,
Matt Miles, Evans, and
Bryce McDermott would each log a hit.

Evans and McDermott would each add an RBI.
Â
Mason Whitmarsh got the start and suffered the loss after allowing five runs on six hits over 3.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.

Logan Teske followed with two-thirds of an inning, allowing a run on a hit with two walks.
Â
Connor priest also tossed two-thirds of an inning and was tagged with two runs on a hit with a walk and a strikeout.

Kenneth Klier came on and put in 1.1 innings of work without allowing a run while giving up a hit and a walk across from two strikeouts.

Beau Swimmer would face one batter and allow a walk before
Coby Langford came on to record the final inning and strikeout two.

In game two, SAU again took a first-inning lead on an RBI groundout for the 1-0 lead.
Â
That lead jumped to 5-0 in the fourth inning as the Muleriders would connect on three homers, two solo shots and a two run home run.
Â
A wild pitch and a two-run single in the fifth inning would see the deficit grow to 8-0.
Â
A McDermott RBI double in the bottom of the fifth would score Miles from second to get the Storm on the board.
Â
An inning later Evans would single with the bases loaded to bring in Ortiz and close the gap to 8-2.
Â
However, the Storm would leave the bases loaded, part of the seven runners stranded on the day and that's where the Storm rally would end as SAU would hold on for the 8-2 final tally.
