Southeastern Falls in Battle of Storms

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern rounded out the home portion of its conference schedule on Thursday night with a 3-0 loss to Southern Nazarene in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 4-23 overall on the season and 1-14 in Great American Conference play, with the home finale next up on the schedule versus Quincy at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1.

Jessica Hardin finished as the team's top attacker, posting nine kills while D'Nari Mills was next up with seven, with Avynn La Rose adding five.

McKenzie Turkoly led the setting duo with 13 assists and added four digs, while Ruthie Forson chipped in nine assists and posted three kills.

Defensively, Hardin led the way with 10 digs while Peyton Kriegel was right behind her with nine.

At the net, Forson turned in a team-high two blocks, one of them solo.

After falling behind early in the opening set, SE would use an 8-1 run to knot the match at 11-11.  SNU would respond with a 10-2 run to take control of the set en route to a 25-16 win in the opener.

Southeastern opened hot in set two, jumping out to a 5-1 lead, but six-straight points from SNU would erase the advantage and push the set into a back-and-forth battle until the Crimson Storm would put together a 10-1 run to close out the set with a 25-14 win.

The third set shared a similar story of runs, with SNU opening on a 6-1 run that staked an early lead, and later used a 6-0 run to push its lead to 20-10. SE would answer with a 7-1 run of its own to close the gap, but Southern Nazarene would hold on for the 25-18 win in the clinching set.
