SE Volleyball Opens 2022 Season at UTPB Tournament

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern volleyball will serve up its first action of the 2022 season when it opens play Aug. 26-27 at the Dr. Steve Aicinena "Iceman" invitational in Odessa, Texas, with its first game set for 11 a.m. versus Augustana.
 
The Savage Storm will close out the first day against the host Texas-Permian Basin at 5 p.m. Day two opens at 11 a.m. versus University of the Southwest before closing the weekend at 3 p.m. on Aug. 27 against Eastern New Mexico.
 
SE volleyball heads into the 2022 season playing the underdog role after being picked eighth in the Great American Conference 2022 Preseason Poll.
 
The Savage Storm come into the year following an 8-19 season with a 5-11 mark in GAC play which was tied for seventh place, earning a berth in the conference tournament.
 
SE returns six players from last season's squad, led by setter Ruthie Forson who has picked up a pair of All-GAC honors, doing so last season after posting 8.62 assists per set and adding 1.61 kills per set on offense, while adding 2.53 digs per set and 24 total bocks on defense.
 
Storm fans will also see plenty of new faces as SE welcomes 12 new additions in 2022, with eight of them being freshman and the other four coming in as transfers.
 
Augustana comes into the 2022 season after posting a 19-11 record overall and a 13-7 mark in NSIC play and were picked fourth in the NSIC preseason poll.
 
UTPB heads into the season picked sixth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll after turning in a 17-11 record overall last season with a 10-7 mark in LSC play.
 
US comes into the weekend after an 11-16 mark in 2021 with a 7-5 record in conference play.
 
ENMU heads into the 2022 season after posting a 7-19 mark a year ago which included a 7-10 record in LSC play with the team picked to finish 13^th in the LSC preseason poll.
