Storm Close Home Stand with Loss to Rangers

DURANT, Okla. – D'Nari Mills posted a team-best 13 kills but it was not enough to lift Southeastern past Northwestern Oklahoma State in a 3-0 loss on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 2-13 on the season and 0-4 in Great American Conference play heading into a Thursday night road matchup versus rivals Central at 6:30 p.m. in Ada, Okla.

Mills finished the contest with 13 kills to lead the offense while Jessica Hardin just missed double figures with nine. Lexi Davila added six, while Michera Moffett and Avynn La Rose each posted four.

McKenzie Turkoly handled the setting duties solo on the match and posted 32 assists while adding a kill and nine digs with five blocks.

Defensively, Peyton Kriegel led the back row with 20 digs, with Amaya Constantino adding 11 and Patience Lewis chipping in 10.

Turkoly led the way at the net with her five blocks, while Moffett added three and Maci Morrison chipped in two.

The teams played a narrow first set NWOSU jumping out to a lead with the Storm rallying from as many as six down to knot the match at 19-19. SE would fight off a se3t point at 24-22, eventually tying the score at 24-24, and would survive another set point before serving for its own set point with a 26-25 lead. However, that would not fall in their favor and the Rangers would score the final three points to take set one 28-26.

Set two remained close early, but a 10-1 NWOSU run would give the Rangers an 18-10 lead which the Storm was unable to recover from, falling 25-15.

NWOSU opened set three on an 11-0 run and SE was never able to find its footing in a 25-14 loss in the match-clinching set.
