Storm Fall in Four Sets to HSU

DURANT, Okla. – D'Nari Mills posted 20 kills and Ruthie Forson just missed a triple-double but Southeastern was unable to rally for a victory in a 3-1 loss on Thursday night to Henderson State in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 7-11 on the year and 3-5 in Great American Conference play heading into a Friday afternoon matchup with Ouachita Baptist at 4 p.m.

Mills led all attackers with 20 kills in the match and completed a double-double of her own with 17 digs while also adding a trio of blocks on defense.

Forson and Noelia Rocha each had 10 kills, with Forson adding 41 assists and finishing one dig shy of a triple double with nine digs.

Faith Kruebbe chipped in nine kills while Michera Moffett added six.

Amaya Constantino led the way on the back row with 24 digs, while Mills posted 17, Krubbe added 16 and Peyton Kriegel chipped in 10.

Mills and Moffett each posted three blocks to lead the defense at the net.

The opening set went to extra points as SE would rally early, eventually taking the lead before HSU would use a late rally to swipe the 27-25 win in the set.

The Storm would respond though and used an early run to mount a 15-7 lead on its way to a 25-19 win in the set to even the score at 1-1.

The Reddies would score the first four points of the third set and SE was unable to erase the deficit en route to a 25-19 loss to fall behind 2-1.

In the fourth set, the teams were back-and-forth early before HSU broke a 6-6 tie with an 8-3 run to take a lead and pull away for the 25-15 win in the set to clinch the match.
