Forson Triple-Double Powers SE to 3-1 Win

DURANT, Okla. – Ruthie Forson turned in her fourth triple-double of the season to power Southeastern to a 3-1 win over Austin College on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 12-12 on the season overall as they prepare to jump back into Great American Conference play on Cot. 31 at 7 p.m. back in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium versus Southwestern Oklahoma State.

"Always great to play another Texoma school," said head coach Nicole Solum-Mitchell. "Austin College is a long running successful program and they definitely challenged us tonight. It took us too long to get moving, but in the third and fourth set offensively we came alive. We need to lock in more defensively so our middles can continue to score. I'm pleased with our performance and with those who came in off the bench tonight."

Forson put together a career-high 15 kills and posted 39 assists on offense while adding 13 digs on defense to round out the triple-double.

D'Nari Mills led all attackers with 23 kills in the match while adding five digs and a block on defense.

Noelia Rocha followed with nine kills, with Faith Kruebbe adding seven.

Amaya Constantino led the defense with 19 digs, while Peyton Kriegel was next in line with 15 followed by Patience Lewis with 12.

Sandra Acheampong would lead the way at the net with three blocks.

SE scored the first four points in the opening set and never looked back using another 10-5 run to extend the lead en route to a 25-18 win in the set.

The Storm pulled ahead in set two and led by as many as five points, but the Kangaroos would rally and score nine of the final 12 points to swipe the set 27-25 and even the match at 1-1.

In the third set the teams would play to an 11-11 tie before Southeastern would close out the match on a 14-3 run to take the set 25-14.

In the fourth set, the Storm would score points in pairs and continue to force side-outs as it pulled away to take the match clinching set 25-17 for the 3-1 win.
